Ellis Hollow Modern Home
Trade Design Build was contacted by the owners of this magnificent 1970s home in Ithaca to give the property a much-needed facelift. The siding had faded and sustained damage in several areas due to years of exposure to the elements, and it was due for significant upgrades.
Our crew repaired water-damaged areas, upgraded the weather barrier and drainage plane, and replaced select windows and doors. Eastern White Cedar was chosen for the new siding, finished with a pine tar and linseed oil treatment to provide a durable, rich appearance. The owners also opted to replace the decking around the home with sustainably harvested Garapa hardwood, an exceptionally resilient choice for exterior applications. The project additionally included replacing the roof with EPDM rubber and adding insulation to better meet the energy goals of the renovation.
